Short personal activity proposal for the COST Action CA15135 (max 1000 characters)

Gasotransmitters; nitric oxide (NO), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) are enrolled in pathophysiology of several diseases including cardiovascular system to central nerves system and airway as well as inflammation, bacterial defense and cancer. By analyzing similarities between the signaling pathways of the drugs and gasotransmitters, we found resveratrol, which have beneficial effects in cardiovascular system and aging, targets H2S. As a pharmacologist my aim is to find gasotransmitters-targeting drug candidates. My goal can fit into the aim of the action to find multitarget drugs, since H2S and NO are multitargeted signaling molecules. I am very enthusiastic to use sophisticated programs matching molecular pathways and chemicals. We can test new candidates for their potential to alter H2S formation in several tissues. We can further investigate potential drug candidates for erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular diseases via in-vitro and in-vivo investigations.
